The neighborhood, located in the Historical Center of Salvador, draws attention to the houses in colonial baroque style Portuguese and is part of the UN Heritage. The name dates back to the slavery period, because at that time they used the pillory, a stone pillar in the middle of a square to punish the slaves.

The tower which guided vessels for what was already one of the main ports of South America is 22 meters high and was built in the seventeenth century. On site, in addition to the external beauty, you can access the nautical museum.
